Our company was born from a shared frustration and a vision for change. It all began in a classroom in an under-resourced Los Angeles school, where one of our founders, Chris, taught students who often expressed their frustration about the lack of practical life skills being taught—such as how to budget or do taxes. Despite being academically prepared for their next steps, these students felt that they were missing the financial education that they needed to lead empowered and fulfilling lives, contribute to their communities, and achieve financial stability.

To address this, Chris launched a financial literacy club, but quickly found that the resources available were inaccessible and disconnected from the lived experiences of the students in the community. Most of the material was not culturally relevant, making it difficult for the students to relate and engage.

At the same time, Ricardo, a former student at the same school, was navigating the same frustrations. As someone who had also recognized the need for practical financial knowledge but saw a gap in the resources available to him and his peers, Chris stayed connected with Ricardo and brought his own experiences and insights to the table.

Now in college, Ricardo joined forces with Chris, and together they saw an opportunity to do something transformative. With Chris's background as an educator and Ricardo's perspective as a former general education student, they created a company dedicated to designing financial education curricula that are both accessible and culturally responsive. They understood that financial literacy should reflect the realities of all students—empowering them with practical and relevant knowledge, regardless of their background or the type of classroom they came from.

By blending the understanding of both educator and student, Chris and Ricardo are building a curriculum that speaks directly to the needs of under-resourced communities. They are ensuring that the voices of those who most need this education are at the heart of the company's work.
